戦場のメリークリスマスをYoutubeにて、公開しました。
坂本龍一さんは、YMOの時代から、大変好きなアーティストでした。
僕の初めてのギターアイドルだった渡辺香津美さんのアルバム「KYLIN」で知り、
それから、ずっと身近に感じていました。

京都と坂本龍一さんは深い付き合いがあった頃があって、1980年トーキングヘッズの「リメインインザライト」が発表された頃のデヴィットバーンが、京都新京極の「詩の小路」のバーで飲んでいたとか、デヴィッドボウイが九条山に住んでいたとか。昔の写真を見るとボウイが、銀閣寺の町内のパーティーで赤ちゃんの自分を抱き上げて笑っている写真があったという友人もいる。龍一さんの大変近い音楽仲間がその頃、京都に出入りしていた。
龍一さんも例外でなく、その頃「普通にメトロで、一緒に踊って騒いでいた」とDJの友人は言うし、亡くなられたEP-4（いわゆるインディーズで全国制覇したはしりの無国籍ファンクバンド）の三条通（さんじょうとおる/ドラマー）は、一緒にバンドを組んでいたとおっしゃっていた。
その頃、僕よりちょっと年上の知的でパンキッシュな人達は親しみをこめて「龍一さん」と呼んでいたと記憶しています。
僕自身は、というとそれは、また聞きの域をでない範囲で、やはりジャズフュージョンギタリストという立場を長く続けていたので、そういう人脈との一定距離を感じていたのは否めない。しかし、もっとも身近な友人やミュージシャンは、そういう部分を僕が持っているのを長年よくわかってもらっているようで、ヘンテコなバンドやセッションによく誘われてきたものです。
コロナになって、自分というアーティストが今後、まずは10年どう自分と向き合うか？考えた時、急に「坂本龍一」というアーティストが視線に入ってきた。
もう20年前になりますが、やはり友人がアートリンゼイ（g）と東京から京都まで新幹線で一緒だったと言う話を聞いたことがあります。 友人が「これからどうやってバンドを売っていこうか、迷っている」と言うと「いや。俺の音楽を聴きたければ京都に来い、で良いんだ。だって、ニューオリンズだって、ロンドンだって、自分たちの土地の音楽をやっているじゃないか。だからシーンを作って京都に来いで良いんだ」
文言は、正確ではないかもしれないが、おおよそそんな話だったと思います。
それが深く心に残っていて、今「戦場のメリークリスマス」を弾く心境になった。

I learned about it from the album "KYLIN" by Kazumi Watanabe, who was my first guitar idol.

There was a time when Kyoto and Ryuichi Sakamoto had a deep relationship, and in 1980, when Talking Heads' "Remain in the Light" was released, David Byrne was drinking at a bar in "Uta no Koji" in Shinkyogoku, Kyoto. Or that David Bowie lived in Kujoyama. I have a friend who says that old photos show Bowie laughing while holding his baby in his arms at a party in Ginkakuji. A very close musical colleague of Mr. Ryuichi was in and out of Kyoto at that time.
Ryuichi-san was no exception.At that time, a friend of mine who was a DJ said, “We used to dance and make noise together in the Club METRO.” Toru Sanjou (drummer) said that they were in a band together.
I remember that around that time, intelligent and punky people who were a little older than me called me "Ryuichi-san" affectionately.
As for myself, I've been a jazz fusion guitarist for a long time, so it's undeniable that I felt a certain distance from those personal connections. However, my closest friends and musicians seem to understand that I have this side of me for many years, and I've often been invited to strange bands and sessions.
How will an artist like myself face myself in the next 10 years after becoming a corona virus? When I thought about it, an artist named “Ryuichi Sakamoto” suddenly caught my eye.
It's already been 20 years ago, but I heard that a friend of mine was with Art Lindsey (guitar) on the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto.
My friend said, "I'm wondering how to sell the band from now on." You're doing music, so you can create a scene and come to Kyoto."
The wording may not be accurate, but I think that was roughly the story.
It left a deep impression on me, and now I'm in the mood to play "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence".
